In a daring and dangerous mission to rescue Hamas hostages, IDF commander Arnon Zamora tragically lost his life but is being hailed as a hero. Zamora’s unit played a crucial role in the successful return of four hostages – Noa Argamani, 26, Almog Meir Jan, 21, and Andri Kozlov, 27 – who were rescued by Israeli troops from the central Gazan city of Nuseirat.
The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a statement expressing their devastation over Zamora’s death, describing him as a true hero in life and death. The 36-year-old commander, who lived in the village of Sde David, near Sderot, is survived by his wife, two children, and his parents. Zamora had previously thwarted Hamas terrorists from entering the country during the Battle of Yad Mordechai and was involved in other significant operations.
Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant paid tribute to Zamora, praising his leadership in the daring rescue operation. The mission that saved the hostages has now been named ‘Operation Arnon’ in honor of the fallen commander.
The sacrifice made by Zamora and his team highlights the bravery and dedication of Israeli forces in ensuring the safety and security of their citizens. The memory of Chief Inspector Arnon Zamora will forever be remembered as a true hero who gave his life in service to his country.
