Arsonists Target Eyelash Business in Kendall, Destroying Grand Opening Plans

A shocking act of arson targeted ‘The Grand Lash House’ in Kendall, leaving the storefront completely engulfed in flames. Surveillance video captured the moment two men inspected the premises before returning with a rock to break the glass and set the building on fire with gasoline.

The store’s owner, Indira Ortega, had been eagerly preparing for the grand opening on May 5th, only to have her dreams shattered by the destructive fire. The damage was extensive, with the ceiling collapsed, the floor burned, and water damage throughout the building, totaling an estimated $45,000 in damages.

Despite the setback, Ortega remains determined to rebuild and open her business. She expressed disbelief at the senseless act, stating, “I’m a good person. I don’t have enemies, I don’t do bad things to anybody, so I don’t know why they did this.”

Ortega’s husband’s former coworker spotted the flames in the middle of the night, prompting a quick response to the scene. By the time Ortega arrived, firefighters had already extinguished the blaze, but the devastation was evident.

Miami-Dade police are currently investigating the incident, with Ortega sharing that she has potential leads on the perpetrators. In the meantime, she has turned to the community for support through a GoFundMe campaign to help with the financial burden of rebuilding.
