Arthur L. Irving, the chairman of Irving Oil and one of Canada’s wealthiest individuals, has passed away at the age of 93. Irving, the son of industrialist K.C. Irving, dedicated his life to expanding the oil business his father had established. His death was announced by Irving Oil, stating that he was surrounded by his wife and daughter at the time of his passing.

With an estimated net worth of US$6.4 billion, Arthur Irving was listed among the top 10 richest Canadians by Forbes Magazine in 2023. He played a significant role in growing Irving Oil, overseeing operations at the company’s refineries in New Brunswick and Ireland.

Born in 1930, Irving joined Irving Oil in 1951 after attending Acadia University in Nova Scotia. He worked alongside his father and brothers, eventually becoming the president of the company in 1972. Despite his success in expanding the business, Irving faced personal challenges, including a contentious divorce and estrangement from his eldest son.
