Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s Health Concerns in Jail Spark Controversy

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s health has become a topic of concern after his sugar levels spiked in Tihar jail, prompting prison officials to give him an insulin jab. Kejriwal, who has been in detention since his arrest on 21 March on charges of money laundering, is a diabetic, and his supporters have expressed worry about his well-being.

The arrest of Kejriwal just weeks before India’s general election has raised eyebrows, with critics alleging political motivations behind the action. The Indian government, however, maintains that investigative agencies are simply carrying out their duties.

The controversy surrounding Kejriwal’s health has escalated into a war of words between his Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), prison officials, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The AAP accused the BJP of denying proper treatment to Kejriwal, while the BJP dismissed the claims, stating that Kejriwal’s sugar levels were under control in jail.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED), which arrested Kejriwal, accused him of intentionally spiking his sugar levels by consuming excessive mangoes and sweets to secure bail. Kejriwal and his party vehemently denied these allegations, emphasizing the need for proper medical treatment.

As the controversy unfolds, Kejriwal’s detention has become a focal point in the ongoing general election, with both sides using the situation to their advantage. Despite the back and forth, Kejriwal remains steadfast in his denial of the charges against him, calling his arrest “illegal” and criticizing the lack of specific charges from the ED.
