Ashneer Grover secures seed funding for his third unicorn

Former BharatPe CEO Ashneer Grover has made headlines once again, this time for raising $4 million in seed funding for his new venture, Third Unicorn Pvt Ltd. The funding round, led by ZNL Growth Fund, saw participation from over two dozen angel investors, including prominent names like Anmol Singh Jaggi and Anirudh Kedia.

Grover’s new venture is set to launch a cricket fantasy gaming platform called ‘Crickpe’. While the website is still in the development phase, it is powered by Third Unicorn. Grover took to LinkedIn to share his excitement about the new venture, stating, “We at Third Unicorn have quietly and peacefully built a business that is shaking the market. Bootstrapped. Without limelight. And we are doing things differently. Very differently.”

In a unique move, Grover revealed that Third Unicorn will start with just 50 members and promised to give a Mercedes to employees who complete five years with the company. He emphasized that the company is only seeking investments from India-based investors and urged venture capitalists to stay away, stating, “VCs-SheC’s, please stay away. We use only desi/self-earned capital.”

Grover, known for his association with unicorns like BharatPe and Grofers, announced the formation of Third Unicorn Private Limited last year with his wife Madhuri Jain Grover. With a strong background in investments and a pedigree from IIT Delhi and IIM Ahmedabad, Grover has had a successful career in the startup world, despite facing controversies in the past.

The news of Grover’s latest venture and the seed funding raised for it has created a buzz in the business world, with many eagerly awaiting the launch of ‘Crickpe’ and the innovative approach that Third Unicorn is set to bring to the market.
