At 18, I launched my own business and now I’ve established my own community in the heart of Cardiff

At just 18 years old, Liam Jones embarked on a journey to fulfill his dream of owning a clothing brand. Now, at 27, he is celebrating the eighth anniversary of his eco-friendly clothing company, Over Seas Apparel. Despite facing numerous setbacks and challenges along the way, Liam’s determination has led him to this milestone.

Liam’s passion for designing clothes dates back to his childhood, and he always harbored the dream of having his own clothing brand. After completing a foundation art course at the Art Academy in Cardiff, Liam brought Over Seas Apparel to life as his final year project. The brand focuses on sustainability, using recycled materials and organic cotton in their products.

Over the years, Liam has encountered obstacles as a young business owner, with many not taking him seriously until he opened a shop in the Royal Arcade in Cardiff. Despite the challenges, Liam has built a close-knit team of creatives who contribute their skills to the brand.

To mark the brand’s anniversary, Liam and a photographer for the brand, Josh, are embarking on a charity bike ride covering 1,328 miles from Land’s End to John O’Groats and back to Cardiff. The funds raised will benefit three charities, including Cardiff Dogs Home, 2wish, and Unicef.

In addition to the charity bike ride, Liam is selling special merchandise in the store, with all proceeds going to the charities. This initiative showcases Liam’s commitment to giving back to the community and making a positive impact through his business.

As Liam continues to grow Over Seas Apparel, he remains dedicated to creating a welcoming space for customers and building a brand that embodies sustainability and community values. His journey as a young entrepreneur serves as an inspiration to others looking to pursue their dreams and make a difference in the world.
