At 50, I’ve followed Victoria Beckham’s lead and abandoned strict diets and intense workouts

Reading Time: < 1 minute

In a nostalgic trip down memory lane, Rosie Green reflects on the drastic changes in the wellness industry from the late nineties to the present day. Back then, being thin was the ultimate goal, achieved through copious amounts of Diet Coke, Marlboros, and sugar-laden treats like Frosties and Party Rings. Fad diets like the cabbage soup diet and intense workout sessions were the norm, all in pursuit of the elusive perfect body.

However, as Rosie and Victoria Beckham, both now 50, have discovered, the approach to fitness and wellness has evolved. Victoria, known for her disciplined approach to diet and exercise, now focuses on weight training over cardio, leading to a stronger and happier body. Rosie, on the other hand, has shifted her focus to bodyweight exercises and free weights, creating muscle that burns more calories at rest and allows for a more balanced approach to food.

Gone are the days of calorie counting and self-loathing, replaced by a more holistic view of nutrition and exercise. Both women have found a new sense of confidence and strength in their fifties, embracing their bodies and enjoying life to the fullest. As Victoria aptly puts it, “Life’s too short. Let’s have a nice time.” Cheers to that indeed!
