Athletes from Argyle and Pinkston aim for singles titles; D-FW leads Day 1 doubles competition

Argyle’s Meghna Arun Kumar continues her dominant streak in high school tennis, advancing to the state final for the third consecutive year. Despite initially focusing on enjoying the game rather than winning, Kumar has now won over 100 straight matches without dropping a set. Her aggressive playing style has led her to two victories on the first day of the UIL Class 5A state championships, setting her up for a chance to secure her third state singles crown in as many years.

On the other hand, Pinkston’s Malcolm Moore is on the verge of making history as he competes in the Class 4A state tournament. Despite facing early setbacks in his matches, Moore rallied back to secure a spot in the state championship game. If he wins, Moore will become the first Dallas ISD male athlete to claim the top prize since 1929.

In the doubles competition, the Dallas area teams are also making their mark. Frisco Centennial teams and Frisco Wakeland’s duo have advanced to the finals, showcasing their skills and determination on the court. Additionally, Allen’s Chelsie Son and Saheba Singh secured a decisive victory in the 6A girls doubles, setting up a final showdown against Round Rock Westwood’s Anwi Duduka and Dana Kardonik.
