Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small and his wife, LaQuetta, are facing serious charges of child endangerment and assault after an incident involving their teenage daughter. According to an affidavit filed by prosecutors, the parents disapproved of their daughter’s boyfriend, which led to a disturbing confrontation.

The mayor is accused of hitting his daughter in the head with a broom until she blacked out and punching her in the legs, while the mother is accused of dragging her by her hair, punching her in the chest and face, and hitting her with a belt. The alleged incident was recorded by the daughter’s boyfriend during a video chat.

The Smalls have vehemently denied the allegations, with their lawyer stating that they are innocent and will be vindicated. Despite the charges, the family remains close and loving, and the mayor intends to continue serving in office.

The affidavit also includes conflicting statements from the daughter, who initially told child welfare authorities that she made up the allegations out of anger but later sent messages to friends claiming she was being abused and did not feel safe at home. She sought treatment at a hospital for a head injury sustained during the altercation with her father.

The Smalls are scheduled to appear in court on May 15. The case has shocked the community and raised questions about the dynamics within the Small family. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.
