The UAE’s travel and tourism sector is set for another record-breaking year, with experts predicting a surge in demand for longer stays and immersive experiences. The country’s strategic goal of welcoming 40 million hotel guests by 2031 seems well within reach, thanks to investments in the hospitality sector and the opening of new hotels and attractions.

According to Raheesh Babu, COO of Musafir.com, travellers are opting for longer holidays, with many choosing seven to ten-day stays. Business travellers are also combining work trips with leisure holidays, leading to an increase in the length of stays. Additionally, travellers are booking their summer holidays months in advance, and the frequency of travel has seen a significant uptick.

On the hospitality front, at least 14 new hotel openings are expected this year, including Jumeirah Marsa Al Arab and Five Luxe. Dubai is leading the regional hospitality market with over 150,000 hotel rooms, surpassing major capitals like London and New York City.

Dubai Airports CEO Paul Griffiths is optimistic about the future, predicting continued robust demand for travel. In 2023, Dubai International Airport remained the busiest international hub for passengers for the 10th consecutive year.

The travel and tourism sector is a major contributor to the UAE’s GDP, with projections indicating a significant increase in its contribution this year. The sector is expected to employ over 800,000 people and attract billions in investments, solidifying its position as a cornerstone of the nation’s economic landscape.
