Fulani Herdsmen Attack Village in Nigeria, Killing 12 Christians

In a tragic and unprovoked attack, Fulani herdsmen targeted a village in central Nigeria’s Plateau state, resulting in the deaths of 12 Christians. The attack occurred in the early hours of April 19 in the farming community of Mangu County’s Tilengpan Pushit, catching residents off guard as they slept.

According to resident Israel Bamshak, the Fulani attackers used deadly weapons, with most of the victims being women and children who were unable to escape. The community has been left in shock and mourning as they try to come to terms with the senseless violence that has befallen them.

Local officials, including Markus Artu, chairman of the Mangu Local Government Council, and Plateau Gov. Caleb Mutfwang, have confirmed that the attacks were carried out by Fulani herdsmen. Despite efforts to curb such violence, the assailants continue to target innocent communities, leaving a trail of devastation in their wake.

Nigeria has been identified as one of the most dangerous places for Christians, with thousands of individuals killed or kidnapped for their faith. The recent attack serves as a grim reminder of the ongoing persecution faced by Christians in the region.

As the community mourns the loss of their loved ones, they are calling for justice and protection from further attacks. The government has vowed to collaborate with security agencies to ensure the safety of its citizens and bring the perpetrators to justice. The international community is urged to stand in solidarity with the victims of such heinous acts of violence.
