The Austintown Fitch Falcons softball team continues to dominate the competition as they secured an impressive 8-2 victory over the Walsh Jesuit Warriors in the Regional championship game. The Falcons, who are the defending state champions, showcased their strength and determination on the field, proving once again why they are a force to be reckoned with.

In a rematch of last year’s regional final, the Falcons took control of the game from the start and never looked back. With the win, the Falcons improved their season record to an impressive 21-1 and secured a spot in the state semifinals at Akron’s Firestone Stadium.

Junior pitcher Sydnie Watts delivered a stellar performance on the mound, tossing a complete-game four-hitter and striking out 13 batters. Despite facing some challenges, Watts remained composed and focused, leading her team to victory.

The Falcons’ offense also came alive, with second baseman Samantha Severn delivering a crucial two-run single in the third inning to give her team a 2-0 lead. The team continued to pile on runs, scoring five more in the fifth inning to seal the win.

Head coach Steve Ward praised his team for their resilience and ability to thrive under pressure. The Falcons’ performance was a testament to their hard work and dedication throughout the season.

As they prepare to face the Fairfield Indians in the state semifinals, the Falcons are confident in their ability to defend their state title. With a combination of strong pitching, solid defense, and potent offense, the Falcons are poised for success as they continue their quest for another championship.
