The Badger Braves came out swinging in a Division IV, first-round sectional contest against Lordstown, ultimately dominating with an 11-1 victory. Despite initially trailing by a run, the Braves quickly turned the game around and never looked back.

Senior Brianna Huscroft and freshman Isabella Bailey led the charge for the Braves, each contributing three hits. Bailey was particularly impressive, racking up five RBIs in the game, while Huscroft knocked in three runners.

The Braves’ roster showcases a unique dynamic, with five seniors, 11 freshmen, and a lone sophomore. Coach Greg O’Brien emphasized the importance of this mix of experience and youth, noting that the seniors provide crucial leadership for the younger players.

While the season has had its ups and downs, with the Braves currently sitting just above .500 at 9-8, they have shown improvement and determination. They have secured wins against expected opponents and faced tough losses against formidable teams like Mathews and Chalker.

On the other side, the Lordstown Red Devils struggled throughout the season, finishing with a 1-12 record. Coach Kim Strimple acknowledged the challenges faced by the team and emphasized the need for consistency and improvement moving forward.

The Braves will now prepare to face East Palestine in a sectional bracket final matchup, with the winner advancing to the district tournament at Jackson-Milton. The game is scheduled for Wednesday at 5 p.m., promising an exciting showdown between two determined teams.
