The Bahamas is set to make a splash at the upcoming Caribbean Travel Marketplace, with record-setting tourism numbers and a focus on sustainability taking center stage. The Ministry of Tourism, Investments & Aviation (BMOTIA) is gearing up for the prestigious event, where they will showcase the country’s success in the tourism sector.

In 2023, The Bahamas welcomed a staggering 9.6 million visitors, marking a 38% increase from the previous year. Foreign air arrivals saw a 17% rise, while cruise arrivals surged by 43.5%. The country’s 16 islands all experienced significant growth, with New Providence, Grand Bahama, and the Out Islands all seeing double-digit increases in visitor numbers.

At the Caribbean Travel Marketplace, The Bahamas delegation will host a destination press conference to highlight their commitment to sustainable tourism practices. The country has been focusing on uplifting communities, preserving environments, and sustaining economies, with initiatives such as mangrove tree restoration projects.

The BMOTIA will also showcase new developments in the tourism sector, including the launch of an Incubator Centre to support local entrepreneurship, new cruise industry developments, and airline updates to improve accessibility to the islands. The Deputy Prime Minister of The Bahamas, I. Chester Cooper, emphasized the importance of the event in promoting tourism in the region and strengthening connections with industry professionals.
