The Ministry of Tourism, Investments & Aviation (BMOTIA) will be showcasing the country’s success at the prestigious event, which is scheduled to take place from May 20-23, 2024, in Montego Bay, Jamaica.

In 2023, The Bahamas saw a significant increase in tourism, with 9.6 million visitors flocking to the country, marking a 38% rise from the previous year. Foreign air arrivals were up by 17%, while cruise arrivals surged by 43.5%. The country’s 16 islands all experienced substantial growth, with New Providence, Grand Bahama, and the Out Islands seeing impressive increases in visitor numbers.

One of the highlights of the event will be a destination press conference hosted by The Bahamas on May 21 at 11 a.m. The country has become a leader in sustainable tourism, with initiatives such as the restoration of mangrove trees and the launch of an Incubator Centre to support local entrepreneurship in the tourism sector.

The Bahamas will also be promoting new developments in the cruise industry, including private destinations for Carnival Cruise Line and Disney Cruise Line, as well as new airline services to further encourage visitors to explore the destination.

Deputy Prime Minister of The Bahamas and Minister of Tourism, Investments & Aviation, I. Chester Cooper, expressed excitement about the opportunity to showcase The Bahamas at the Caribbean Travel Marketplace and strengthen connections with industry professionals. The event promises to not only highlight the country’s tourism success but also enhance the image of the Caribbean as a top travel destination.
