The Norway varsity baseball team continued their winning streak on Tuesday with a doubleheader sweep against Superior Central at Mike Maule Field. In the first game, pitcher Cole Baij threw a perfect game, striking out 15 batters and leading the Knights to a 5-0 victory. The Knights’ offense came alive in the fourth inning, with key hits from Alex Ortman and Bryce Adams.

In the second game, Norway wasted no time scoring, taking an early lead and capitalizing on errors from Superior Central to secure an 11-1 win. Pitcher Alex Ortman controlled the game on the mound, striking out nine batters in four innings of work. The Knights’ aggressive baserunning and clutch hitting with two outs helped them extend their lead and seal the victory.

With the wins, Norway improved their season record to 18-2-1 and will be facing Iron Mountain in a nonconference doubleheader next. The team will also be honoring their seniors in the upcoming game.

In other baseball action, the Florence Bobcats fell short against Wabeno/Laona, despite out-hitting their opponents. The Rebels held on for a 6-5 win, with the Bobcats making a late rally but ultimately coming up short. Florence will look to bounce back in their next game against Wausaukee.

Meanwhile, the Niagara Badgers struggled against the Crivitz Wolverines, falling 5-2 in a tough matchup. Despite a strong start with an early lead, the Badgers couldn’t keep up with Crivitz’s offense. Mason Richtig pitched well for Niagara, but the team couldn’t generate enough offense to overcome the Wolverines.
