Port Angeles High School faced a tough challenge against the undefeated Bainbridge girls tennis team, resulting in a 7-0 loss for the Roughriders. Despite the defeat, the No. 4 doubles duo of Audrey Rudd and Hannah Hairell put up a strong fight, pushing the Spartans to a first-set tiebreaker before ultimately falling.
The Spartans dominated the singles matches, with Issy Wallin, Ruby Morrow, and Xin Munson securing victories for Bainbridge. In the doubles matches, the teams of Malia Lemieux/Elle Schuchman, Zoe Bellas/Elsa Drugge, Katherine Walker/Abby Schnee, and Hazel Gori/Elanor Lee emerged victorious over their Port Angeles counterparts.
In other sports news, the Sequim girls golf team triumphed over Bremerton with standout performances from Kendra Dodson, Sara German, and Raimey Brewer, who all shot personal best scores. The boys golf team also secured a win against Bremerton, led by Adrian Aragon’s impressive round of 44.
On the track, East Jefferson’s girls team put on a strong showing at the Coupeville Classic Invite, with fast freshmen leading the way to a second-place finish. Carina Shiflett, Arden Moore, and Kaida Rodrigues were among the standout performers, winning multiple events and setting personal records.
Overall, it was a day of fierce competition and impressive performances across multiple sports for the local high school teams.
