**Mothers Navigating Motherhood and Academia: A Tale of Resilience**

When we think of the challenges of pursuing higher education, we often imagine late-night study sessions, hectic schedules, and academic pressures. But what happens when you add motherhood into the mix? Tasfiah Tasnim Raya, an Economics student at Dhaka University, and Adiba Sultana, a student at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University, share their experiences of balancing motherhood and academia.

Tasfiah recalls the challenges of being pregnant during her second year of studies, juggling coursework with prenatal appointments and childbirth preparations. Adiba, who had gestational diabetes during her pregnancy, faced a similar struggle of managing her health while attending classes and hospital duties.

The hardships don’t end after childbirth, as Shirin Afroja, a mother of two planning to pursue postgraduate studies in Canada, shares her experience of taking a semester off for recovery after her first son was born during her undergraduate years. Returning to academia after a gap poses its own set of challenges, requiring careful planning and support from family.

Familial support plays a crucial role in helping mothers navigate the demands of motherhood and education. Tasfiah emphasizes the importance of time management and family support in continuing her studies while caring for her daughter.

To better support mothers in academia, Adiba suggests improving sanitation facilities, transportation systems, and changing negative perceptions of mothers as students. Tasfiah advocates for flexible class schedules, online courses, and tailored support networks for mothers.

As these incredible women continue to pursue their education while raising children, it is essential for educational institutions to create a supportive environment that enables mothers to thrive academically without sacrificing their family responsibilities.
