Bally’s Plans to Launch Online Sports Betting in Massachusetts This Summer

Bally’s, a well-known operator in the sports betting industry, is gearing up to launch online sports betting in Massachusetts by the end of June. Despite holding a license for over a year, the company has yet to make its mark in the state. However, Bally’s Chief Operating Officer, Brett Calapp, assured the Massachusetts Gaming Commission of their commitment to the state and their excitement to finally enter the market.

Calapp emphasized the rich sports history of Massachusetts and the company’s eagerness to be a part of it. He mentioned that there should be no barriers for Bally’s to launch online sports betting by the set deadline and that they are currently navigating through the necessary regulatory hurdles.

In a show of commitment, Bally’s renewed its temporary license with the commission earlier this year for a hefty $1 million renewal fee. The company also paid an additional $1 million to re-up its temporary category 3 untethered sports betting license for the year.

In other news, DraftKings successfully petitioned the MGC to approve the Pro Volleyball Federation for the state’s event catalogue. The professional women’s indoor volleyball league in the United States now has the green light for wagering in Massachusetts. The MGC unanimously approved the request, with Commissioner Eileen O’Brien expressing her pleasure at seeing another professional women’s league being offered in the state. She encouraged members of the federation to reach out to the commission directly with any concerns about the league or event outcomes.
