Bar Leone Celebrates First Anniversary by Bringing the World’s Best Bars to You

Bar Leone, the popular Italian spot in Hong Kong, is gearing up to celebrate its first anniversary in style. To mark this special occasion, the restaurant will be hosting a series of bar takeovers featuring some of the world’s best bars and bartenders. The month-long celebration will kick off on May 26 and run until June 27, promising an exciting lineup of cocktails and culinary delights.

The anniversary celebrations will see four renowned bars from around the globe taking over Bar Leone, each bringing their unique flair and signature drinks to the table. The first week will feature Boadas Bar from Barcelona, Spain, the oldest cocktail bar in the city. Bartender Simone Caporale, co-founder of Sips and #1 on the World’s 50 Best Bars list in 2023, will be showcasing the bar’s famous martinis. Accompanying Caporale will be Chef Rafa Gil from La Ramba, serving up delicious Spanish classics.

Next up, on June 2, Bar Leone will welcome Tjoget from Sweden, ranked #93 on the World’s Best Bars list in 2023. Bar Manager Hedda Bruce will be presenting classics with a twist, drawing inspiration from Southern Europe, Northern Africa, and the Middle East. Chef Jim Lofdhal from Embla will be on hand to provide Swedish-inspired snacks to complement the exotic flavors of the cocktails.

On June 9, London’s Satan’s Whiskers, ranked #28 on the World’s 50 Best Bars list in 2023, will take over Bar Leone. Bar Manager Keila Urzaiz de Calignon will be showcasing a menu dedicated to refined classics, while Chef Mark Catchpole from Michelin-starred Roganic will be serving up British bites to pair with the cocktails.

The grand finale of Bar Leone’s anniversary celebrations will be on June 27, with Freni e Frizioni from Rome, ranked #33 on the World’s Best 50 Bars list in 2023, closing out the month-long event. Bar Manager Riccardo Rossi will be paying homage to tradition with his cocktails, perfectly complemented by Roman-inspired snacks from Chef Marco Xodo from Testina.

Guests can join the anniversary celebrations by attending the guest shifts, which will run from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. each day. Additionally, most of the bartenders will be hosting masterclasses from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. on the day of their guest shift, giving attendees the opportunity to learn from the best in the industry.
