Baruch College Bearcats Clinch CUNYAC Men’s Tennis Championship

In an impressive display of skill and determination, the Baruch College Bearcats emerged victorious as the CUNYAC Men’s Tennis Champions once again. The team secured their 17th championship in program history by defeating Brooklyn with a commanding 5-0 win at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

The Bearcats wasted no time in asserting their dominance, taking a commanding 3-0 lead by winning all three doubles contests. The duo of Tuna Nergizoglu and George Arteaga set the tone with an 8-1 victory at second doubles, followed by Jordan Hernandez and Reda Ljazouli securing an 8-4 win at third doubles. Juan Paredes and Nicholas Santiago completed the sweep with an 8-6 comeback victory at topflight doubles.

Ljazouli and Santiago continued the winning streak in singles play, with Ljazouli clinching a point with a 6-4, 6-0 victory at No. 6 singles, and Santiago sealing the championship with a 6-3, 6-2 win at third singles. Nergizoglu, who was named the 2024 CUNYAC Player of the Year, was honored as the Championship’s Most Valuable Player.

With this victory, Baruch College has earned the league’s automatic bid to the 2024 NCAA Division III Men’s Tennis Championship Tournament, marking their 13th appearance at the prestigious event.
