The Bay College softball team finally had the opportunity to play on their home field for the first time in 2024 as they hosted Mid-Michigan College for a series of doubleheaders over the weekend. The Norse faced tough competition from the Lakers, but they managed to secure a win in one of the games.

In the first game on Friday, the Lakers dominated with a 19-3 victory over the Norse. Despite a late rally by Bay College in the fifth inning, they were unable to overcome the large deficit. Pitcher Izzy Drabant took the loss, allowing 19 runs off 18 hits with five walks.

The second game on Friday saw the Lakers continue their strong performance, shutting out the Norse with a 14-0 win. Bay College struggled at the plate, managing only two hits in the game.

However, the Norse bounced back in the first game on Saturday, defeating the Lakers 11-4. Desiree Bender led the offensive charge with a three-run home run, while Drabant picked up the win on the mound.

In the final game of the series, the Lakers once again proved to be too much for the Norse, winning 14-1. Sierra Jones provided the lone highlight for Bay College with a home run.

Looking ahead, the Norse will face off against Delta College in their upcoming games. With a mix of tough losses and a solid win under their belt, the team will be looking to build on their performance as they continue their season.
