Bayer Leverkusen Extends Unbeaten Streak with Victory at Roma

In a stunning display of dominance, Bayer Leverkusen continued its record-breaking unbeaten streak with a 2-0 victory over Roma in the first leg of the Europa League semifinals. The imposing Stadio Olimpico did little to deter the Bundesliga champions, who extended their unbeaten run to an impressive 47 matches across all competitions.

Leverkusen midfielder Amine Adli downplayed the significance of the unbeaten streak, stating, “We take things game by game and we are not thinking about being unbeaten. We just want to enjoy ourselves.” The victory also served as sweet revenge for Leverkusen, as Roma had knocked them out at the same stage last season.

The match saw Leverkusen capitalize on a defensive error from Roma, with Florian Wirtz calmly slotting in a goal after a failed back pass. Midfielder Robert Andrich sealed the win with a long-range strike in the 73rd minute.

In the other semifinal, Atalanta managed a 1-1 draw against Marseille. The second legs of the semifinals are set to take place next Thursday, with the final scheduled for May 22 in Dublin.

Leverkusen, who have only won one European trophy in their history, are aiming to add the Europa League title to their cabinet. Meanwhile, Roma, under the guidance of coach Daniele De Rossi, are looking to secure their third consecutive European final appearance.

With Leverkusen’s unbeaten streak still intact, the stage is set for an exciting conclusion to the Europa League as the competition reaches its climax.
