Baylor University is making headlines both locally and nationally, with recent events ranging from campus accolades to key personnel appointments.

The university’s picturesque campus has garnered attention, with U.S. News & World Report naming it among the 20 Beautiful College Campuses in the country. Architectural Digest also recognized Baylor for its aesthetic vision, including its Georgian-style buildings that create a cohesive look.

In terms of staffing, Baylor announced the appointment of Elisabeth Kincaid as the director of the Institute of Faith and Learning, effective August 1. Kincaid, a theologian, lawyer, and business ethics scholar, will also serve as an associate professor at George W. Truett Theological Seminary.

Additionally, Toby J. Brooks has been selected to lead Baylor’s Academy for Teaching and Learning, starting July 15. Brooks brings experience from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, where he served in various roles.

On the infrastructure front, Baylor has secured permits for renovations at various locations on campus, including upgrades to locker rooms and law school facilities.

In other news, the new AC Hotel by Marriott in downtown Waco has officially opened, offering 182 rooms for guests. While the hotel has received positive feedback for its elegance and friendly staff, some guests have noted areas for improvement, such as bed comfort and elevator availability.

Furthermore, Clifton native Alana Kay has launched a clothing collection exclusively on HSN, blending fine art with fashion design. The collection aims to offer inclusive and stylish pieces for all sizes.

Lastly, Ellie Mental Health, a Minnesota-based counseling service, has opened a new location in Waco, providing mental health support to individuals and families.
