Bayshore Bait and Hideaway Under New Ownership

KIPLING — Bayshore Bait and Hideaway, a longstanding business on Little Bay de Noc, has changed hands as of January 2024. Chad Meier and Jeff Diebold, the new owners, have given the store a major overhaul and a slight name change. The property, which has been providing supplies and lodging to anglers since 1959, is now managed by Keith and Connor Soderman.

The history of the property dates back 65 years, with multiple owners making changes and additions over the years. The most recent owner, John Creten, reported that the cabins were slowly renovated over time, but Meier and Diebold took on a more extensive revamp of the entire operation.

The store was closed for a few weeks this winter for renovations, and now features a new look for 2024. With the upcoming walleye season on May 15, the Sodermans are preparing for a busy time ahead. They are stocking up on tackle and bait, including a custom color pattern of lures exclusive to Bayshore.

In addition to selling fishing supplies, Bayshore is working on expanding their offerings to include food sales and updating their facilities. Plans for a pavilion and improved fish cleaning station are in the works, as the new owners continue to improve the business.

As the seasons change, the Sodermans are confident in their ability to anticipate and meet the needs of anglers in the area. With a focus on customer service and a passion for fishing, Bayshore Bait and Hideaway is poised for success under its new ownership.
