The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a generous reward for the groundsmen and curators of all IPL venues. BCCI secretary Jay Shah revealed that each of the 10 regular IPL venues will receive a cash prize of INR 25 lakhs, while the three additional venues will be awarded INR 10 lakhs each.
Shah expressed his gratitude towards the ground staff for their hard work and dedication throughout the T20 season. Despite facing challenging weather conditions, the groundsmen and curators ensured that the pitches were of top quality for the matches.
The 10 regular IPL venues include stadiums from all the IPL teams’ home grounds, while the additional venues are Dr YS Rajashekar Reddy ACA-VDCA International Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam, Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamshala, and Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati.
The announcement comes after the conclusion of the IPL 2024 season, which saw Kolkata Knight Riders emerge as the champions after defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad in the final match.
The cash rewards serve as a token of appreciation for the unsung heroes behind the scenes who played a crucial role in the success of the tournament. The ground staff’s efforts were instrumental in ensuring that the matches were played on high-quality pitches, contributing to the overall excitement and competitiveness of the IPL season.
