The Blue Earth Area Buccaneers girls and boys golf teams had a successful day on the course as they both secured victories over the Martin County West Mavericks in a meet at Minn-Iowa Golf Course on Tuesday, April 9.
The girls team continued their strong start to the season by breaking 200 as a team for the second consecutive meet and defeating MCW 195-304. Senior Payten Gudahl led the way for the Bucs, earning medalist honors with a round of 42. Katelyn Storbeck finished in second place with a 44, followed by Rylan Storbeck in third with a 52. McKinley Hanson and Madison Ehrich rounded out the top five for BEA.
On the boys side, the Bucs picked up their first win of the season by defeating MCW 167-175. Hunter Schmidt of MCW was the medalist with a round of 36, but BEA had a strong showing with freshman Cole Becker finishing in second with a 39. Eli Blagg and Jackson Blondin also had solid rounds, finishing in third and fourth place, respectively.
Both teams were back in action on Friday, April 12, when they hosted Maple River at Riverside Town and Country Club. The results of those meets will be featured in next week’s edition of the Faribault County Register. The Bucs are looking to continue their success as they progress through the season.
