Bear River High School’s softball and baseball teams had a thrilling day at the 4A state tournament, with both teams fighting to stay alive in the competition.

In softball, the No. 7 Bear River team pulled off a dramatic 9-6 victory over No. 3 Snow Canyon, thanks to a late-game rally in the top of the seventh inning. Bella Douglas was the star of the game, going 4 for 4 at the plate with a triple, double, five RBIs, and three runs scored. The team’s small-ball strategy paid off, allowing them to score three crucial runs to secure the win. With this victory, Bear River advances to face No. 6 Payson in the next round, with the possibility of playing up to three elimination games in one day to reach the state championship series.

On the baseball diamond, the No. 5 Bear River team avenged an earlier loss to No. 4 Desert Hills with a hard-fought 9-6 extra-inning victory. Gehrig Marble led the way with a triple, double, and three RBIs, while Kolton Summers and Holden Potter also contributed with key hits. The team’s resilience was on full display as they battled back to secure the win and stay in contention for a spot in the state championship series.

Both Bear River teams showcased their talent and determination on the field, setting the stage for more exciting matchups as they continue their quest for a state title.
