In the latest update on the Iran-Israel conflict, tensions continue to escalate as Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made it clear that his country will make its own decisions on how to defend itself. This comes in response to Western countries urging restraint after Iran’s recent ‘drones and missiles’ attack.

Netanyahu met with British and German foreign ministers, David Cameron and Annalena Baerbock, who visited Israel in an effort to prevent the conflict from spiraling into a full-blown war. The Israel PM’s office expressed gratitude for their support but reiterated Israel’s commitment to defending itself.

Last week, Iran launched a barrage of projectiles at Israel in retaliation for an alleged attack on its consulate in Damascus. However, Israel and its allies successfully intercepted over 99 percent of the projectiles, with minimal damage and injuries reported.

The United States, along with the European Union and G7 nations, have announced plans to impose tighter economic sanctions on Iran. This move is seen as an attempt to appease Israel and deter further escalation.

Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi warned that any invasion by Israel would result in a “massive and harsh” response. Meanwhile, Jordan has called for restraint, cautioning that a war could have devastating consequences for the entire Middle East region.

In a separate development, Israel confirmed that its fighter jets had targeted Iran-backed Hezbollah’s terrorist infrastructure in eastern Lebanon. The situation remains tense as both sides stand firm in their positions, raising concerns about the potential for further conflict in the region.
