Warren’s Brady Berdine Strikes Out 11 in Tough Loss to Erie High

In a hard-fought Region 5 matchup, Warren senior Brady Berdine showcased his pitching prowess by striking out 11 batters, but it wasn’t enough to secure a win for the Dragons. Despite Berdine’s impressive performance on the mound, Warren fell short against Erie High with a final score of 2-1 at Old Legion Field.

Head coach Andrew Morrison expressed his frustration with the team’s offensive struggles, stating, “Just a bad day offensively again. Their kid pitched well, but we made some poor swing choices and didn’t protect with two strikes; can’t happen.” Morrison also praised Berdine’s pitching, emphasizing the need for the team to provide run support for their star pitcher.

Berdine, who allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits over 6 1/3 innings, also contributed offensively with two hits and an RBI to bring in Konnor Hoffman for Warren’s lone run in the game.

Despite the loss, the Dragons showed resilience and determination throughout the game. RJ Hawkins of Erie High pitched a solid game, allowing only one unearned run and leading his team to victory.

Warren, now 3-5 overall and 2-5 in the region, will look to bounce back in their next game against General McLane. With Berdine’s stellar performance on the mound and the team’s unwavering spirit, the Dragons remain a formidable force in Region 5 baseball.
