Bernie Sanders acknowledges Biden’s lack of popularity but emphasizes he is not his opponent in a divine race

Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) has made a bold statement about President Joe Biden’s lack of popularity among voters, but emphasized the importance of supporting him against former President Donald Trump. In an op-ed for the Guardian, Sanders highlighted the critical moment in American history that he believes 2024 represents, comparing it to significant events like the Civil War and the Great Depression.

While acknowledging his disagreements with Biden on issues such as Israel and the war in Gaza, Sanders made it clear that the alternative of a second term for Trump would be far worse. He praised Biden for his stance on wealth inequality, abortion, unions, climate change, student debt, democracy, and the war in Gaza, even though he still had reservations about some of the president’s positions.

Despite Biden’s recent decision to pause the shipment of certain weapons to Israel, Sanders pointed out that the administration still approved a significant weapon shipment totaling $1 billion to the country. Despite these concerns, Sanders has remained a vocal supporter of Biden since losing to him in the 2020 Democratic primary.

Sanders’ message serves as a reminder to progressives and voters alike that while Biden may not be perfect, the alternative of a Trump presidency is far more dangerous. As the 2024 election approaches, Sanders urges Americans to consider the bigger picture and support Biden in order to prevent a return to the divisive and destructive policies of the previous administration.
