On Monday, April 8, the Olympic Region will be treated to a rare celestial event – a total solar eclipse. This natural phenomenon is a shared experience for humanity, and the path of totality runs right through the Adirondack Park, making it a prime viewing location.

To prepare for this unique event, the Regional Office of Sustainable Tourism in Lake Placid has created an interactive map with confirmed viewing locations in the greater Olympic Region. From Lake Placid to Tupper Lake, communities are gearing up for the eclipse with special events and viewing areas.

In Lake Placid, visitors can head to various locations such as the Olympic Speedskating Oval, the Lacrosse Field, and the Olympic Jumping Complex for prime viewing spots. In Jay and AuSable Forks, there will be viewing areas at the Village Green and the Grove Athletic Complex, with an Eclipse After Party featuring live music.

Keene and Wilmington will also offer viewing areas at Marcy Field and Whiteface Mountain Ski Center, respectively. In Saranac Lake, the Solar Fest will feature music, art, and food vendors, while Tupper Lake will host “Totality in Tupper” at the Wild Center with a weekend of solar and eclipse-themed activities.

From Paul Smiths to Long Lake and Newcomb, communities across the Olympic Region are coming together to celebrate this rare event.
