Bhopal to resume shooting trials for Paris Olympics selection

The quest for a spot in the Indian squad for the Paris Olympic Games continues as 37 pistol and rifle shooters gear up for the Olympic Selection Trials (OST) 3&4 in Bhopal. With 16 Paris quota places already secured by Indian shooters, the competition is fierce as the top contenders battle it out for a chance to represent their country on the biggest stage.

The National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) is conducting trials among the top-five shooters in each event to select the squad for the Olympics. The pressure is on as individuals must top the selection trials to secure their Paris berths.

The first day of the trials will feature the men’s 25m rapid-fire pistol and women’s 25m pistol T3 qualification rounds, with the finals scheduled for Sunday. A total of 16 matches across the eight Olympic rifle and pistol individual events will be held over nine days, culminating in the men’s and women’s 10m air rifle T4 finals on May 19.

Olympian Manu Bhaker, Esha Singh, and Rhythm Sangwan are among the top contenders in multiple events, while Anish Bhanwala and Vijayveer Sidhu are favorites in the men’s rapid-fire pistol event. Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar and Ashi Chouksey will also be looking to secure their spots in the men’s and women’s 50m rifle 3 positions, respectively.
