Biden Campaign Addresses Trump’s Failures in Supporting Black America

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The Biden Campaign is using the annual Memorial Day holiday to highlight the failures of former President Donald Trump in addressing the issues faced by Black people in the U.S., particularly in the aftermath of George Floyd’s murder four years ago. The campaign is emphasizing the stark difference between Trump’s approach to policing and criminal justice reform and the actions taken by President Joe Biden’s administration since Floyd’s death.

Floyd was killed in a brutal manner by police officer Derek Chauvin, sparking widespread protests and calls for justice. The Biden Campaign is pointing out how Trump failed to address the systemic issues that led to Floyd’s death and instead incited violence and defended police brutality.

The campaign highlighted instances where Trump encouraged violence against protesters, defended police chokeholds, and downplayed the need for police reform. In contrast, Biden’s administration has taken concrete steps to address police violence, including signing executive orders restricting chokeholds and establishing a national database of officers fired for misconduct.

As the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act is reintroduced in Congress, Biden is calling for its passage to bring about meaningful change in policing practices. The campaign warns that Trump’s rhetoric and actions threaten to undo the progress made in police reform and racial justice, emphasizing the importance of continuing to push for accountability and change.
