Biden Considers Allowing Ukraine to Use U.S. Weapons for Strikes in Russia

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The tension between Russia and NATO continues to escalate as the Kremlin ramps up its rhetoric and military exercises, raising concerns of a potential direct confrontation.

In response to NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg’s recent statement, the Kremlin’s top spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, accused the Western alliance of flirting with military rhetoric and falling into military ecstasy. He warned that Russia was prepared to respond to any provocation, emphasizing that NATO was already in a direct confrontation with Russia.

Despite the Kremlin’s warnings and displays of nuclear capabilities, American officials remain skeptical of Russia’s intentions. They point out that Russia has not taken the risk of attacking NATO territory directly, and President Vladimir Putin has shown a reluctance to engage in direct conflict with the Western alliance.

However, experts like Joseph S. Nye warn that Putin’s nuclear saber-rattling is a strategic move to pressure President Biden into backing down. Nye describes the situation as a nuclear bargaining game, with Putin pushing hard to make Biden swerve first.

Since the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine, Putin has used nuclear threats to deter NATO from intervening. But as the threats continue, Biden’s aides are becoming increasingly immune to Putin’s declarations.

As tensions mount and the nuclear rhetoric intensifies, the world watches nervously to see how the situation will unfold between Russia and NATO.
