Biden Inquires About Trump’s Hypothetical Response to Capitol Rioters Being Black

Reading Time: < 1 minute

President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris made a powerful statement on Wednesday in Philadelphia, rallying Black voters to support them in the face of former President Donald J. Trump’s attempts to court Americans of color. Biden condemned Trump as a racist who had lied to Black Americans about his term in office, highlighting his controversial actions and statements.

At the rally, Biden reminded the crowd of Trump’s response to the George Floyd protests and his continued belief in the guilt of the Central Park Five. He also questioned what would have happened if Black Americans had stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6, contrasting it with Trump’s remarks about pardoning the rioters.

The event in Philadelphia marked a significant effort by the Biden campaign to strengthen support from Black voters, who played a crucial role in their victory in 2020. Polls have shown a decline in Biden’s support among Black voters, prompting urgent outreach efforts.

The Biden campaign plans to mobilize Black voters through a “week of action” and collaboration with national groups. In response, the Trump campaign accused Biden of “gaslighting Black voters” and highlighted his role in the 1994 federal crime bill.

As the election approaches, both campaigns are intensifying their efforts to win over Black voters, recognizing their importance in deciding the outcome. Biden and Harris are actively engaging with Black communities and highlighting their policy achievements to persuade disaffected voters to support them.
