Biden Official Affirms Commitment to Rule of Law Following Trump Verdict

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Former President Donald J. Trump made history on Thursday as he became the first ex-president to be declared a felon after being convicted of falsifying records to cover up a scandal involving a porn actress. The White House, however, remained relatively silent on the matter, with spokesman Ian Sams stating, “We respect the rule of law,” and declining to provide further comment.

President Biden, on the other hand, spent the day with his family in Rehoboth Beach, marking the ninth anniversary of his son Beau Biden’s death. While Mr. Biden did not publicly address the verdict, he attended a morning church service in Delaware before heading to Rehoboth Beach for the rest of the day.

The Biden administration has generally avoided discussing Mr. Trump’s legal troubles at length, with concerns about fueling false claims that the president directed prosecutors to investigate him. Instead, they have focused on promoting Mr. Biden’s domestic agenda and drawing a contrast with Mr. Trump’s legal battles.

Despite the conviction, the Biden campaign emphasized to voters that a criminal charge was not enough to prevent Mr. Trump from running for president again. Spokesman Michael Tyler stated, “There is still only one way to keep Donald Trump out of the Oval Office: at the ballot box. Convicted felon or not, Trump will be the Republican nominee for president.”

As the political landscape continues to evolve, the implications of Mr. Trump’s conviction will undoubtedly shape the upcoming election cycle.
