President Joe Biden signed a $95 billion security appropriations bill that will provide much-needed weapons to aid Ukraine in its fight against Russia’s invading forces. The long-awaited legislation was approved by the Senate with a margin of 78 votes in favor and 18 against.

In a speech from the White House State Dining Room, President Biden emphasized the significance of the bill, stating that it will make America and the world safer while reinforcing American leadership globally. The legislation includes $61 billion for Ukraine, replenishing American weapons stockpiles, and $9 billion in forgivable loans for economic assistance to Kyiv.

Additionally, the bill allocates $26 billion for Israel and Gaza, including funds for Israel’s missile defense systems and humanitarian assistance to Gaza. President Biden highlighted the importance of providing aid to the innocent people of Gaza who are suffering due to the conflict.

The bipartisan support for the bill in both the House and Senate demonstrates a consensus for American leadership on the world stage. President Biden thanked lawmakers from both parties for coming together to pass the legislation, emphasizing the importance of standing with allies and opposing tyrants.

The president’s signature on the supplemental spending legislation marks the end of a months-long standoff fueled by Republican opposition. The bill’s passage will not only support Ukraine in its defense against Russian aggression but also provide crucial aid to Israel and Gaza, underscoring America’s commitment to global security and stability.
