Joe Biden’s campaign is gearing up for a star-studded fundraising event in Los Angeles in June, with the support of former president Barack Obama and Hollywood icons George Clooney and Julia Roberts.
The event, scheduled for mid-June, will feature an online contest with Clooney and Roberts across the campaign’s social media platforms to attract grassroots donors and celebrities, as reported by NBC News. The two actors, known for their work together in Hollywood, will also be involved in email and text message campaigns to engage more contributors to the fundraising efforts.
Additionally, Biden is expected to hold a fundraiser with former president Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on the East Coast in early summer. This follows a successful fundraiser in New York City in March, where a record-breaking $26 million was raised for the campaign.
The upcoming event in Los Angeles is anticipated to be similar in scale and success to the March fundraiser, which was hailed as the most successful political fundraiser in American history. Biden’s recent fundraising efforts in Northern California and Seattle have also been fruitful, adding another $10 million to his campaign coffers.
According to FEC filings, Biden’s campaign ended March with nearly double the cash on hand compared to his Republican opponent, Donald Trump. With the support of the Democratic National Committee, Biden’s financial advantage over Trump is significant, with $131 million versus $67 million.
While Trump’s fundraising has seen a boost since securing the GOP nomination, Biden’s campaign continues to maintain a strong financial position. The Biden campaign has been contacted for comment on their upcoming fundraising efforts.
