Biden visits Wisconsin to promote AI and criticize Trump’s Foxconn failure

Reading Time: < 1 minute

President Biden made a significant trip to Wisconsin on Wednesday, where he had two main objectives. Firstly, he was there to announce Microsoft’s massive $3.3 billion investment in artificial intelligence in the state. Secondly, he aimed to draw attention to the failure of one of Donald Trump’s major job promises during his presidency.

During his speech at Gateway Technical College in Sturtevant, Wisconsin, Biden highlighted the fact that Microsoft’s new AI data center is being constructed on land that was initially cleared for a planned $10 billion Foxconn investment during the Trump administration. However, the Foxconn project was drastically scaled back, leaving the land abandoned.

Biden didn’t hold back in his criticism of Trump, stating that the former president “didn’t build a damn thing” and labeling the Foxconn project as a “con.” He emphasized his administration’s commitment to making and keeping promises, contrasting it with Trump’s unfulfilled pledges.

Microsoft President Brad Smith also spoke at the event, praising Biden’s policies for enabling their investment in Wisconsin. The company plans to create jobs across the state and train 100,000 residents for future AI-related positions.

The contrast between the failed Foxconn project and Microsoft’s promising investment served as a focal point for Biden’s message on economic growth and job creation. As the 2024 election approaches, Biden is likely to continue using examples like these to showcase his administration’s impact on local communities, particularly in swing states like Wisconsin.
