Biden’s lead over Trump widens in latest polls

President Biden is gaining ground on former President Trump in a series of polls, with a Quinnipiac poll released Wednesday showing them tied in the race. This shift in momentum has energized Biden’s campaign, with allies feeling optimistic about their chances as Trump’s legal troubles continue to mount.

Biden himself expressed confidence in a recent speech, citing a Marist poll that showed him leading Trump nationally by 3 percentage points. While Biden still trails Trump in some key battleground states, he has closed the gap in national polls released this month.

The New York Times/Siena College poll published on April 13 found Biden trailing Trump by just 1 percentage point, a significant improvement from previous polls. Similarly, an NBC News poll showed Biden narrowing Trump’s lead from 5 percentage points to 2 percentage points.

A Marist/PBS NewsHour poll also showed Biden leading Trump among registered voters, with a slight uptick in support. Additionally, a Monmouth University poll revealed an 8-point increase in Biden’s job approval rating since December.

Despite these gains in national polls, battleground state polls paint a less favorable picture for Biden. A Bloomberg News/Morning Consult poll of swing states showed Trump leading Biden in several key states.

As the election draws closer, both campaigns are ramping up their efforts. Biden has been actively campaigning in swing states, while Trump is dealing with legal issues related to a hush money scheme. Democrats believe that Trump’s legal troubles could remind voters of the chaos of his presidency, but the outcome of the election remains uncertain.

Overall, the race between Biden and Trump is expected to be tight, with the outcome likely to be decided by a small number of voters in key states. Biden’s success will depend on his ability to connect with voters on important issues like the economy, crime, and gas prices.
