The Buffalo Bisons are gearing up for an exciting event on Thursday, June 13th as they celebrate World Softball Day with a special game against the Worcester Red Sox at 6:35 p.m. But this game is not just about softball – it’s also about giving back to the community.
The Bisons have partnered with Leveling the Playing Field to hold a used sports equipment drive before the game. Fans are encouraged to bring new or gently used sports gear of any kind to donate at a special donation table next to the Sahlen Field box office starting at 5 p.m. In return, donors will receive entry to win a Bisons family night at the ballpark, complete with game tickets, hot dogs, sodas, and Bisons caps for the whole family.
This initiative is part of Leveling the Playing Field’s mission to provide free sports equipment to underserved communities, ensuring that all kids have the opportunity to participate in sports. With 1 in 5 underserved households unable to afford sporting equipment, this drive aims to make a difference in the lives of young athletes in Buffalo.
In addition to the equipment drive, the Bisons game on June 13th will also feature “Thirsty Thursday” specials on Southern Tier craft beers and fun in-game elements celebrating great softball players. Tickets are available at a discounted rate when purchased in advance, making it the perfect opportunity to enjoy a night of baseball while supporting a good cause.
So, clean out your garages and join the Bisons in leveling up the playing field for young athletes in need. Let’s make World Softball Day a day to remember for all the right reasons.
