Kansas City Chiefs defensive lineman BJ Thompson is currently in stable condition after suffering from cardiac arrest and a seizure at the team’s facility. The incident occurred during a special teams meeting, prompting the Chiefs to cancel all team activities for the day. Thompson, a fifth-round pick in 2023, had only played one game in his rookie season but was part of the Super Bowl-winning team.
The NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported the news on Twitter, stating that the Chiefs’ medical staff acted quickly and Thompson is now in stable condition. The league also confirmed the cancellation of team activities and rescheduled media availability for head coach Andy Reid and select players.
While Thompson’s health scare is the main focus, some of his teammates have also been making headlines for different reasons. Kicker Harrison Butker faced backlash for controversial comments made during a commencement speech, while lineman Isaiah Buggs denied allegations of animal cruelty. Wide receiver Rashee Rice surrendered to police in Texas following a multiple car collision incident.
Despite the off-field distractions, the Chiefs organization is focused on Thompson’s recovery and ensuring the well-being of all their players. The news of his stable condition comes as a relief to fans and teammates alike, as they await further updates on his health.
