New Ulm Cathedral Dominates Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart in Softball Game

In a thrilling Tomahawk Conference softball game, New Ulm Cathedral showcased their dominance by shutting out Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart with a final score of 11-0. The game, held at Harman Park, was a display of Cathedral’s offensive prowess and solid pitching.

The action kicked off in the first inning when Ava Brennan drew a lead-off walk and later scored on Jenna Hotovec’s sacrifice, giving Cathedral an early 1-0 lead. The Greyhounds then exploded in the second inning, scoring five runs off of nine batters. Kiah Helget’s triple brought in two runs, extending Cathedral’s lead to 6-0.

The scoring didn’t stop there, as Cathedral continued to pile on runs in the following innings. Madelyn Haala’s leadoff triple in the third inning resulted in another run, and Cathedral added four more runs in the fourth inning to seal the victory.

Pitcher Abbey Hillesheim was a standout performer for Cathedral, pitching four innings of shutout ball and striking out five batters. Offensively, Ava Schmid, Madelyn Haala, and Alexa Hornick all contributed with key hits and RBIs.

On the other side, Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart struggled to contain Cathedral’s offense, with pitcher Chloe Schultz taking the loss after giving up eight hits and six walks.

With this impressive win, Cathedral improves to 1-0 in the season and looks ahead to their next game against Springfield. Fans can expect more exciting softball action as Cathedral continues their quest for victory in the Tomahawk Conference.
