Blizzard Cancels BlizzCon 2024, Considers Bringing Event Back in Future Years

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Blizzard Entertainment has made the decision to cancel BlizzCon 2024, opting instead to deliver game announcements at various events throughout the year. This news comes as a disappointment to fans who were eagerly anticipating the annual fan convention, which has been a staple in the gaming community for years.

The company cited “careful consideration over the last year” as the reason for the cancellation, stating that they are looking to approach this year differently. Instead of hosting one big event, Blizzard will spread out their announcements at events like Gamescom. This decision marks the second consecutive year that BlizzCon has been cancelled, following the cancellation of the 2022 event.

Despite the cancellation, Blizzard assured fans that BlizzCon will return in future years. In a statement on their website, the company expressed their excitement to bring back the event and promised to share more details about their upcoming game launches, including World of Warcraft: The War Within and Diablo IV’s first expansion, Vessel of Hatred.

In the meantime, Blizzard has teased “exciting plans” for other industry events and conventions, including multiple in-person events to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Warcraft. While fans may have to wait a bit longer for the next BlizzCon, it seems that Blizzard has plenty of exciting announcements in store for the coming year. Stay tuned for more updates on their upcoming game releases and events.
