Blue Jays fan hit by 110 mph foul ball receives tickets and signed baseball from team

The Toronto Blue Jays have made a generous offer to a fan who was struck in the face by a 110 mph foul ball during Friday’s game. Liz McGuire, the fan in question, took to social media to share her experience, posting a picture of her swollen forehead and black eye.

In a viral tweet, McGuire tagged the Blue Jays and asked if they could “hook a girl up” after the frightening incident. The post garnered over 13 million views and even caught the attention of trading card company Topps, who created a custom card immortalizing McGuire’s experience.

The Blue Jays responded by offering McGuire tickets to an upcoming game and a signed baseball from player Bo Bichette, whose foul ball had struck her. The team confirmed that medics had assessed McGuire immediately after the incident and that she did not suffer a concussion or fracture.

Despite the scary ordeal, McGuire expressed gratitude for the team’s gesture and shared that she had sought medical attention after the game. She also noted that she felt the ball coming at her at such a high speed that she couldn’t have avoided it even if she tried.

The incident has sparked discussions about fan safety at baseball games, with the Blue Jays having extended their protective netting at Rogers Centre in 2019. The team emphasized that fan safety is a top priority and that precautions are in place to ensure a safe environment for all attendees.
