BOB HOPE SCHOOL’s Expansion of Excellence Program Provides Education to Underserved Communities – Port Arthur News

Bob Hope School is on a mission to deliver quality education to communities in need through its Expanding Excellence effort. Since its inception in 2010, the charter school system has seen remarkable growth, expanding from one campus serving 250 students to five campuses with 2,500 enrolled.

Recognizing the critical need for better public school options in high-needs communities, Bob Hope School has set out to open four new campuses in East Harris County. This expansion plan, approved by the Board, aims to create 3,360 new seats in high-quality schools, ultimately serving 6,260 students across Jefferson and Harris counties by 2029.

To bring this plan to fruition, Bob Hope School has launched the Expanding Excellence campaign, seeking to raise $25.5 million in private funding. With minimal state funding for charter school facilities in Texas, private support is essential to launch new schools and provide students with life-changing opportunities.

The strategic planning process involved a thorough analysis of community needs and demographics, leading to the selection of specific communities in East Harris County for expansion. The plan includes opening new campuses in Baytown, Pasadena, Channelview, and Deer Park, with a total implementation cost of $45 million.

Thanks to transformational gifts from donors like Mackenzie Scott and the Houston Charter Seed Fund, Bob Hope School has already secured $7 million in commitments. The remaining funding will come from public sources, cash reserves, and financing.
