The Marshalltown boys tennis team showcased their depth and talent in a dominant 8-3 victory over Fort Dodge at the Marshalltown Tennis Complex on Thursday. Despite facing tough competition at the top spots, the Bobcats secured the win in Iowa Alliance action.

Head coach James Christensen praised the team’s depth, highlighting the competitive nature of their practices. Isaac Benscoter and Jacob Thiessen faced formidable opponents in Micah Flaherty and Akramjon Abdurakhimov, but ultimately fell in hard-fought matches. Christensen commended the level of competition and the valuable experience gained from facing skilled opponents.

Dale Greene and Carson Snyder led the charge with impressive wins in their singles matches and the No. 2 doubles match. The duo of Jacob Christen and Adam Boone also secured victories, as did the pairs of Isaac Seberger and Tayven Dutton, and Jacob Seberger and Parker Christen in the doubles matches.

With this win, Marshalltown improved to 4-2 on the season, showcasing their potential for success moving forward. Christensen emphasized the team’s continuous improvement and the importance of learning from high-level competition.

Next up for the Bobcats is a home quad against top-ranked teams in 2A, including Waukee Northwest, Pleasant Valley, and Mason City. The team is gearing up for another challenging matchup as they aim to continue their winning streak.
