The Marshalltown girls’ tennis team continues to dominate the courts with an impressive 11-0 sweep against Mason City, improving their season record to a perfect 11-0. This victory also secured the Iowa Alliance Conference regular-season title for the Bobcats, marking their third consecutive 11-0 win.

Head coach John Fiscus praised the team’s performance, stating, “It was another great day for the Bobcats as all played well up and down the lineup.” Despite the threat of wet weather, Marshalltown and Mason City played pro sets, with the Bobcats consistently reaching eight (or nine) games first in each match.

In a closely contested match, senior Claire Bohan emerged victorious against Kaitlyn Thangaraj at No. 4 singles with a score of 9-7. The rest of the team also delivered outstanding performances, with Rebekah Downs, Kennedy Feldman, Ava Lucas, Lily Zahnd, and Halie Hohnstein securing wins in their respective singles matches.

Downs and Feldman continued their winning streak in the doubles matches, defeating Olivia Wickman and Annora Lewerke with an 8-0 score. The Bobcats displayed their strength and depth throughout the competition, with all five doubles wins secured by margins of 8-3 or better.

Looking ahead, the Bobcats are set to face Des Moines East at home before participating in a tournament at the Ankeny Tennis Center alongside Ankeny, Norwalk, and Southeast Polk. With their unbeaten record and impressive performances, the Marshalltown girls’ tennis team is poised for continued success in the season.
