The Marshalltown girls’ tennis team continued their winning streak with a dominant performance against Ottumwa on Monday evening. The Bobcats secured a 10-1 victory at the Marshalltown Court Complex, improving their record to an impressive 6-0 for the season.

Despite Ottumwa managing to secure one singles win, Marshalltown quickly took control of the match, surrendering only three sets throughout the competition. Nellie Morgan of Ottumwa outlasted Kennedy Feldman in a close battle at No. 2 singles, but Marshalltown claimed the other five singles wins, with four of them coming in straight sets.

After a thrilling three-set victory for Ava Lucas at No. 3 singles, the Bobcat doubles teams showcased their dominance with a clean sweep, securing a 5-0 win and sealing the overall victory.

Head coach John Fiscus praised the team’s performance, especially highlighting the top pairing of Rebekah Downs and Kennedy Feldman, who secured a convincing win at No. 1 doubles.

The doubles domination continued with wins from Ellie Hughes and Rachel Jones, Callie Swanson and Kate Hauser, and Lily Zahnd and Halie Hohnstein, showcasing the team’s depth and strength across all pairings.

Marshalltown’s next challenge will be a three-match road swing, starting with a dual at Des Moines Lincoln. With their unbeaten record intact and a strong team dynamic, the Bobcats are looking ahead to continue their success as they approach regionals.
